Beyond Academic Learning: Character Education

Beyond Academic Learning: Character Education

All parents hope that their children will grow to become respectable and wall-mannered individuals. This is why as well as core academic subjects like maths, English and science, character education at school is so important for children’s development. Character education teaches children the core values of caring about each other, responsibility and honesty, and other traits that will enable them to learn these essential skills.

Society and the media present young people with many negative influences and unknown challenges and dangers in today’s modern age. Character education enables students to learn the traits and knowledge they need to know about these challenges, and how to deal with them effectively should they arise.

Character education can greatly help students with their studying, as well as giving them a drive to do well in their education. It also helps to enable children to interact well with their friends and teachers, which in turn turns their classroom into a better learning environment.

Schools that teach character education report higher academic performance, fewer disciplinary issues, less vandalism and also improved attendance. Not only do children learn these great skills through character education, but it enables them to feel safer within their school environment, knowing that their fellow students value hard work, responsibility and respect.

The lessons that your children will learn from character education will be helpful for them as they engage and interact with other people in society. Character education will teach them so many valuable skills that they can apply and use in their lives. Just as it is never too early to build the foundation for early academic success, it is also never too to begin sharing lessons and stories that will teach character.

The Pumpkinheads books focus on character education and emotional/social development. Messages that parents care about through characters and books that children love!
